TOURISM & DISABILITY

Bordeaux City Tours is working to facilitate access to its tours to people with disabilities. This action is part of the company’s wider CSR approach.

In October 2023, we were awarded the “Tourism and Handicap” label for 4 disabilities: motor, auditory, mental and visual.

Tourism & Handicap is the only government mark awarded to tourism professionals committed to a quality approach focused on accessibility to leisure activities and vacations for all. It identifies establishments that meet the specific needs of tourists with disabilities, whether auditory, mental, motor or visual.

The aim is to make our tours accessible to all people with disabilities, by the following means:

* For people with motor disabilities, the “Bordeaux Visiotour” double-decker buses have a dedicated access ramp and a specific PMR (Person with Reduced Mobility) seat.

* For hearing-impaired passengers:

      • the Kiosque (our sales outlet on Allées Tourny) is equipped with a magnetic loop to amplify sound
      •  a written tour guide that compiles the audio commentary can be provided
      • headphones compatible with hearing aids are available on board the buses.

 

* For the mentally handicapped, tour guides written in an “easy to read and understand” way are available.

 

* For the visually impaired, buses are equipped with an audio-description commentary channel.

 

We have also introduced a special rate for disabled visitors (€10 instead of €14.50), and the accompanying person is free of charge.

The “Lisio” tool has been implemented on our website to facilitate access to our website by adapting to disabilities such as dylexia, daltonism, low vision…
