From 19 June to 13 December 2026, the Musée d’Aquitaine takes a closer look at this familiar yet little-understood object with “Un globe des mondes” (“A Globe of Worlds”), an exhibition blending geography, history, visual arts, and digital creation to unpack how globes shape the way we see our planet.

Born from the Spherographia research project, which brings together researchers from six scientific units, artists, and museum institutions, the exhibition explores how globes function as genuine political and cultural objects. It examines in particular the virtual globes that have emerged over the past two decades, and the often-invisible choices that shape every representation of the world.
The exhibition offers multiple entry points: between historical pieces, contemporary artistic creations, and digital installations, every visitor can find a level of engagement that suits them, from the casually curious to cartography enthusiasts.
