‘OCEAN’ EXHIBITION

‘OCEAN’ EXHIBITION

The new immersive experience at Bassins des Lumières showcases the splendour and abundance of marine life.

An exploration of this extraordinary ecosystem, marine life comes to life on the immense walls and in the reflections of the Bassins: vibrant reef fish, sea turtles, imposing orcas, sharks, mischievous dolphins and even polar seals. It is a large-scale sensory and poetic adventure that will delight the whole family

An immersive dive into the heart of the oceans

Stunning paintings illustrate the variety of shapes and colours of marine fauna and flora, featuring seahorses, luminous jellyfish and penguins gliding across the ice. However, beyond the wonder, the exhibition also encourages reflection on the vulnerability of the oceans and the consequences of human activity on these unique, indispensable but endangered ecosystems.

A cinematic representation of the marine world

The experience, presented as a film production, combines spectacular images with an immersive soundtrack. Authentic ocean sounds are combined with iconic compositions, intensifying the emotional impact of the scenes: a massive octopus appears to the sound of the Goldfinger theme, while luminescent jellyfish move in sync with the melody. Built over a year of work, this unique work on display at Bassins des Lumières brings together more than 800 video clips and showcases more than 100 marine species, designed to adapt to the vast projection surfaces to offer a complete immersion.

Exhibition – Around the world in 50 wine regions

The Cité du Vin is hosting the exhibition Around the World in 50 Wine Regions, a visual journey dedicated to the diversity of international wine-growing regions. This programme showcases a selection of photographs from partner regions, each of which has chosen an iconic image to embody its landscape, people or heritage.

The curatorial approach is based on a cross-sectional interpretation of the vineyards, without geographical hierarchy or strict technical classification. The photographs interact with each other through three major themes:

    • the morphology of wine-growing landscapes,
    • the representation of professional gestures
    • and the historical roots of the terroirs.
