Exhibition – Around the world in 50 wine regions

The Cité du Vin is hosting the exhibition Around the World in 50 Wine Regions, a visual journey dedicated to the diversity of international wine-growing regions. This programme showcases a selection of photographs from partner regions, each of which has chosen an iconic image to embody its landscape, people or heritage.

The curatorial approach is based on a cross-sectional interpretation of the vineyards, without geographical hierarchy or strict technical classification. The photographs interact with each other through three major themes:

    • the morphology of wine-growing landscapes,
    • the representation of professional gestures
    • and the historical roots of the terroirs.

This scenography promotes a comparative understanding of wine-growing systems, whether European, American, African or Asian. Visitors discover contrasting environments, ranging from hillside vineyards to irrigated plains and areas of heroic viticulture. The images reflect the agronomic choices, specific cultivation practices and climatic adaptations specific to each production area.

An exhibition that is part of Bordeaux’s wine tourism initiative

This exhibition is fully in line with Bordeaux’s strategy to promote its cultural heritage as the world capital of wine. It is part of a comprehensive approach to wine tourism, combining cultural mediation, architectural heritage and an immersive experience.

The Cité du Vin is a key destination for visitors wishing to deepen their understanding of international wine dynamics. The complementary nature of the permanent exhibition, temporary events and educational programme broadens the spectrum of analysis, from the history of the wine trade to contemporary issues related to climate change.

n this vein, visiting the exhibition can be combined with an urban exploration of Bordeaux. You will have the opportunity to tour the city aboard our Visiotours bus, a panoramic bus offering a guided tour of the main heritage sites.
