VertiGina

Bordeaux is home to France’s most vertiginous urban climbing site: a 33-meter-high structure built on silos…

Located at the entrance to the Bassins à flot, in the Bacalan district, the eight Renaissance silos once belonged to Huilerie Franco-Coloniale. Bought out in the 1970s, this company employed up to 300 people and produced up to 45 million bottles of oil a year. Today, access to the hotel is via two of these silos, a fine example of rehabilitated industrial heritage. This climbing project fits perfectly into the heart of the Bassins à flot, a district recognized by UNESCO for its industrial heritage.

The historic sports association UCPA has opened this huge complex to offer sports and leisure activities for all ages and tastes. The aim is to support the general public in the practice of climbing, golf, padel and squash.

Far from being reserved for climbing enthusiasts, this area is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. Qualified instructors will guide participants on this vertical adventure on routes rated from 4a to 7c. The site offers single-rope routes, auto reels for solo climbers and dihedral (two walls forming a 90-degree angle).

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced climber, there’s something for everyone. Several route heights are available: 8 metres, 12 metres, 16 metres, 20 metres and 25 metres.

The most daring can tackle one of the 20 routes peaking at 33 meters, or even chain them together to simulate multi-pitch climbing. Guaranteed 360 degree view at the top.
