Bordeaux’s famous funfair, a must-see event in our beautiful city, has been held every year in March and October since… 1431 ! Originally set up on the Place de la Bourse, it moved to the esplanade des Quinconces in October 1853, adopting a decidedly festive atmosphere. Puppeteers, menageries, wrestlers, cinema screenings even before the advent of cinemas, “freaks” rubbing shoulders with merchants, magicians and lions – the fair offered a unique spectacle, a merry bazaar where anything seemed possible!

Over the years, the Foire aux Plaisirs has become Bordeaux’s most important festive event. It’s also the biggest funfair in the south of France, and the third biggest in France!

For the enjoyment of all, the Fair brings together nearly 200 rides and stands: rifle shooting, lotteries, stunts, duck fishing… There are also 20 attractions for children, 20 for families and 20 for thrill-seekers, not forgetting the many gourmet stands offering the famous candy apples, cotton candy, crêpes, waffles, churros and many other delicacies.
