From June 28, 2022 to Friday, April 21, 2023, the Archives of Bordeaux Metropole invites you to discover this new exhibition explaining the history of bridges in Bordeaux.
The Archives de Bordeaux Métropole will teach you more about the history of the bridges on the Garonne River, as well as the different projects in Bordeaux, from their origins to today.
On the occasion of the bicentenary of the stone bridge’s opening, a work of art classified as a “monument of the century”, the Archives of Bordeaux Metropole discover the history of the crossing of the river from the 18th to the 21st century: from ferries and naval buildings, to road bridge projects, completed or forgotten. From the Pont de Pierre to the Simone-Veil Bridge, via the Transporter Bridge, the Saint-Jean Bridge, the Aquitaine Bridge and the Chaban-Delmas Bridge: these exceptional works of art express the modernity of their time.
Discover the plans, drawings, models, films, posters, photographs that illustrate all the centuries of this great human and technological adventure.
